It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother Ellen Sorensen Porter. Ellen passed away on October 08, 2012 after a lengthy stay in the Red Deer hospital at the age of 91 years. Ellen was predeceased by her husband Max Sorensen in July 1977, her second husband Francis Porter in 1995 and great grandson Corbet in 2005
Ellen will be lovingly remembered by her son Milton and her daughter Patricia (Bill Jorgensen), her grandchildren Jason, Melissa, (Chris Ries) Jamie (Heather), Brad (Raegan) Maren and Max (Brittany) as well as her great grandchildren Matthew, Brooklyn, Parker, Olivia, Camille and Hannah. She will also be remembered by her step-daughter Dorothy (Alex Bergos) and her grandchildren Sharon and Grant (Tweet) and great grandchildren Maria and Kia.
Ellen touched many lives in the Drumheller area having taught grade one in Drumheller schools for thirty years and being a long-time member of the Eastern Star, the congregation of the Knox United Church and Choir and the Pioneer Trail Singers. Funeral services will be held at Knox United Church in Drumheller on Saturday October 13 at 2:00 PM. Courtney Winters Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
